Residents at the Minneapolis Ronald McDonald House were again treated to a superbly prepared meal on Sunday November 9. Qwest Pioneer volunteers and Qwest employee members of the St. Paul Spirit Club joined together in preparing a ham dinner with all the trimmings. New volunteer faces were at this second meal service, as word spread about this new project of the MN Qwest Pioneer Chapter 18. People appreciate that an event like serving a meal one or two times a year and the ability to share the experience with family members and co-workers, can be accomplished in just one day. |
Trudy Omarro of the Qwest Employee Spirit Club says, even though they have busy lives, people still want to contribute and volunteer at events they feel are worthwhile. Pat Bohmer, the vice president of the Metro Life Member Pioneer Club was the main cook for the meal. He has some experience in feeding large group in his role as a volunteer cook at the VFW he belongs to. Pat Jeukens, coordinator of both “Cooks for Kids” events thanks everyone who participated. She is anticipating signing Qwest Pioneers up for two more meal services next year. Be looking for the opportunity to volunteer at them! |
