QWEST PIONEERS MEETING
ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
July 28, 2010

The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Cooper at 10:05 a.m. Pioneer members present were Betty Lee, John Warren, Bill Carlson, JoAnn Cooper, Nancy Eilefson, and Char Reno. Our guests were Durbin and Steve from MACV.

OLD BUSINESS:

Financial Report – The report is not available until July 30.

Life Member Report – Motion by John with a second by Betty to approve postage expense to send a postcard to all Life Members. Motion passed. We will invite a speaker to our September meeting.

Hug a Bear Report – The Cloquet Fire Department wants 10 bears.

Chapter Update – All are welcome at the September 10 Chapter meeting in Duluth. Thank yous were received for the Readers for Life books from Grant/Nettleton schools. Nancy will send them to Dave Hemmer for archiving.

Other – Sympathy cards were sent to the family of Bob Mills and Pat Howard. A card will be sent to the family of Cliff Olson. A “check” was presented to Durbin and Steve from MACV from the proceeds of the “Spirit of Service” ride. Arrowhead Council raised $8,020.00 from the ride, raffles, and donations. There will be a dedication of the wall at the MACV site for permanent and transitional housing for our veterans on September 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

Motion by Bill with a second by John to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.

Our next board meeting is August 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pioneer Lounge, Fourth Floor Melrose Building in Duluth. All Pioneers and guests are welcome. We meet the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Chapter meetings are scheduled for September 10th in Duluth and December 10th (place not confirmed). The “Spirit of Service” ride will be July 16, 2011!

The next Life Member Luncheon will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010. All are welcome; reservations are necessary. Call Olga at 724-2950 for reservations.

We meet at 10:00 a.m. on the second Monday and at 11:00 a.m. (after the board meeting) on the fourth Wednesday of each month to work on Hug a Bears or other projects. Please feel free to join us.
