QWEST PIONEERS MEETING
October 27, 2010
The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Cooper at 10:04 a.m. Pioneer members present were JoAnn Cooper, Betty Lee, Don Fennessy, John Warren, Bill Carlson, Char Reno, and Nancy Eilefson.
Financial Report – We discussed the financial reports from July, August, and September. Calendar sales are going well. The cookbook sales went well also.
Life Member Report – We had a good lunch. We didn’t have a speaker but the 27 guests enjoyed visiting. Nancy received a reply from John Stanoch. He or someone from his office will try to be here for the November luncheon. A sympathy card was sent to the family of Eileen Sleeman.
Hug a Bear Report – We are still working on hug a bears. Don will check with his contacts to see if they need bears.
Chapter Update – The Chapter Meeting will be December 10 at Coon Rapids. We discussed the activities sponsored by Arrowhead Council as reported to Carol. We need to do a better job of reporting our hours! Char received another thank you from Grant School.
Other – JoAnn sent out a questionnaire to the office about Pioneer fundraising. The preference is for raffles, lunches, or breakfasts. They would rather not have to bring items in for raffles and do not want to have to bring in food. They would prefer to participate.
NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Don with a second by Bill to send gifts for the following food shelves:
CHUM - $100.00; Second Harvest in Duluth - $300.00; Grand Rapids, Virginia, and Hibbing Food Shelves - $100.00 each. Motion passed. The Twin Ports Miracle League at Harrison in Duluth needs help to finish their baseball field. Motion by Don with a second by Char to send $100.00 to them. Motion passed. Motion by Nancy with a second by John to send $100.00 to Duluth Habitat for Humanity. Motion passed.
WRAP UP: We will not be having a board meeting in December.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
