ARROWHEAD  MEETINGS

QWEST PIONEERS MEETING
ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
September 22, 2010

The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Cooper at 10:02 a.m.  Pioneer members present were Barb Cane, Don Fennessy, Bill Carlson, John Warren, JoAnn Cooper, Betty Lee, Nancy Eilefson, Deb Franckowiak, and Char Reno.

OLD BUSINESS: Financial Report – The audit went well.  The only concern was that JoAnn submitted and authorized the forms for deposits.  The board agreed that deposits could have the same submitter and authorizer.  The financial reports still need to be revised.  The voucher issued for the cookbooks will be $3.00 for each book for a total of $264.00; we received 20 yellow, 24 green, 24 blue, and 20 red.

Life Member Report – Don stated that this was the best luncheon in fifteen years!  There was a good speaker, good food, and 47 guests.  Don recognized Nancy for her efforts in making this luncheon a success.  Nancy thanked all those that helped!  John Stanoch has been invited to speak at a Life Member Luncheon.

Hug a Bear Report – Char bought more stuffing for the bears.  The Life Care Center will take 26 bears per Barb.  We are still giving 20 each month to St. Luke’s and they are very happy to receive them.

Chapter Update – The Chapter Meeting held in Carlton went well.  The food was excellent!  Members who attended from Arrowhead Council were Betty, Char, JoAnn, and Nancy.  Don Fennessy was missed!  Pioneer calendars are now for sale for $30.00.  Elections are ongoing for Chapter offices.  The Spirit of Service Ride will be nominated for a recognition award.

Other – The cookbooks will be sold at the Forbes Bazaar on October 23 for $7.00 each or a set of 4 for $20.00.  The MACV open house is set for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23.  We received thank you notes from the Cloquet Fire Department, the Hibbing Food Shelf, and Lowell Legato Foundation.  Nancy will forward these to Dave Hemmer for archiving.

NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Betty with a second by John to send $100.00 to Caring Bridge.  Motion passed.  Motion by Betty with a second by John to send $200.00 to The Veterans Home in Silver Bay.  Motion passed.  We will transfer $300.00 from our general account to our charitable account to cover these gifts.

WRAP UP: The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
