PIONEER MEETING
ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
October 24, 2012
The meeting was called to order by Char Reno at 1:15 p.m. Pioneer members
present were JoAnn Cooper, Char Reno, Nancy Eilefson, and John Warren. Jeff
Slagle, a representative from Liberty Mutual was also present. He advised us of
the opportunities for the Pioneers in fundraising and the opportunities for any
interested Pioneer in regards to insurance products. JoAnn will be in contact
with him to set something up.
OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report – JoAnn did not have a report at the meeting.
Life Member Report – There were 22 Pioneers, Partners, and guests at the
September Life Member Luncheon. The next Life Member Luncheon will be November
14. All are welcome; reservations are necessary. Motion by Char with a second by
Nancy to send $200.00 to the CAF Museum. We were guests there September 26 and
we all enjoyed the tour. Motion passed. Nancy would like to see a repeat of this
event next summer!
Hug a Bear Report – 20 bears were given to St. Luke’s and 24 to Life Care
Center. A thank you was received from Lake Superior Life Care Center. Nancy will
mail it to Dave Hemmer to be archived. 23 head coverings were given to Essentia
and 23 to St. Luke’s.
Chapter Update – Voting is now open for Chapter offices. All are running
unopposed. We need to concentrate on fundraising and volunteering. The last week
of October is Volunteer Week for Pioneers. We should do something as a group.
Other – We will start working on birthdays in a bag. We decided to start with
the Proctor Food Shelf to see what the response is there. We will need a cake
mix, frosting, plates, napkins and candles to begin with. Telecom deaths
reported are Mildred Monte, Myrna Anderson (card mailed), Marjorie Gresczck
(card mailed) and Giles Beron. We have some Pioneer friends who are willing to
make new sympathy cards for us. The cards will be from Arrowhead Council,
TelecomPioneers.
NEW BUSINESS: Moose Lake lost their fishing ramp in the June flood. This will be
a spring project. Michael Pickleman would like us to participate in a veterans
project the end of May or early June 2013. It will involve transporting vets to
Mille Lacs for a “free fishing day”. MACV will also be involved with this. More
information will follow. John will keep the PA system at his house. Please
contact him when it is needed.
WRAP UP:
Motion by Nancy with a second by John to adjourn. Passed. The meeting adjourned
at 2:15 p.m.
Submitted by Nancy Eilefson
