PIONEER MEETING
ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
September 25, 2013

The meeting was called to order by Marlys Wisch at 1:10 p.m. Pioneer members present were Char Reno, Bill Carlson, John Warren, Marlys Wisch, Nancy Eilefson, and JoAnn Cooper.

Motion by Bill with a second by John to accept the minutes as presented. Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report – JoAnn was reimbursed for the Food Shelf gift. The $7.50 check fee was discussed at the Chapter Meeting. Motion by Bill with a second by John to authorize Nancy or Char to order bags for St. Luke’s Breast Cancer Center when they order from Oriental Trading. Motion passed.

Life Member Report – There were 20 Pioneers, Partners, and guests at the Life Member Luncheon. The lunch was very good. The next Life Member Luncheon will be October 16, 2013. All are welcome; reservations are necessary. Twelve people attended the tour at CAF in August. It was enjoyed by all. We will decide if we will repeat this next year. Nancy brought a card to Linda Kaufman’s funeral luncheon.

Charitable Report – Twelve head coverings were brought to Essentia in September. 90 books were delivered to the Big Red Bookshelf in August and 60 books in September.

Chapter Update – Critical dates were discussed. They are:
December 31 – We have to meet our 65%.
January 10 – Inventory needs to be reported.
January 31 – Board member directory needs to be reported.
February 28 – Budget needs to be reported.
Presidents and treasurers must complete training by April 30.

Other – The Pioneer Board of Directors is making changes to guidelines.

NEW BUSINESS: We need some fundraising ideas. We received a request for cell phones for battered women’s shelter. We will continue to recycle cell phones as a fundraiser for Arrowhead.

WRAP UP: Our thanks to Bill for bringing the treats. Motion by Bill with a second by Marlys to adjourn. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 2:16 p.m.

Our next board meeting is October 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Pioneer Lounge, Fourth Floor Melrose Building in Duluth. All Pioneers and guests are welcome. We meet the 4th Wednesday of each month.
