ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
July 23, 2014

The meeting was called to order by Char Reno at 1:04 p.m.  Pioneer members present were John Warren, Bill Carlson, Char Reno, and Nancy Eilefson.

Motion by Bill with a second by John to accept the minutes as presented.  Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report – No report available.

Life Member Report – There were 16 Pioneers, Partners, and guests at the May Pioneer Luncheon and 25 at the June Luncheon.  We will continue with the lunches at the VFW if they have a cook!  Nancy will check with Lorraine.  If all goes well, the next Pioneer Luncheon will be September 17.  All are welcome; reservations are necessary.  Nancy will try to get some speakers/entertainers for the meetings.  Sympathy cards were sent to the families of Denny Leavitt, Mary Kleven, and Fred Guist.

Charitable Report – We gave 18 head coverings in May, 18 in June, and 20 in July to Essentia Cancer Center.  Last winter we gave hats, scarves and mittens to Bayview School.  (This has been tabled since April because we were waiting to hear what else was given.)  In May, June and July, we gave 20 hug a bears to St. Luke’s and 24 to Lake Superior Life Care Center each month.  We tabled discussion again on a Hug a Bear luncheon.  St. Luke’s tracks the hours for making bears.  They were doing it individually but now will be tracking them under the Pioneer name.  We brought 90 books in May, 80 books in June and 85 books in July to the Big Red Bookshelf at Lake Superior Community Health on Grand Avenue.  We now take care of the bookshelves on both floors.  We received a thank you from Lake Superior Life Care Center.  Nancy will send it to Dave for archiving.

Chapter Update – No report.

Other – John will make a new picture frame for the large picture in the Pioneer Museum.  We need to contact the building person about the social.  Char and Nancy will purchase food and set it up.  Motion by Bill with a second by John to authorize expenses up to $200 for the social.  Motion passed.
