OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report – We reviewed the treasurer’s report that Marlys had.  We need to find out what contribution Lakes Council normally makes.

Life Member Report – There were 20 (19 paid) Pioneers, Partners, and guests at the September Pioneer Luncheon and 22 at the October luncheon.  The next Pioneer Luncheon will be November 19.  The menu is pork loin, potatoes, salad, roll, dessert and coffee.  All are welcome; reservations are necessary.  Sympathy cards were sent/delivered to the families of Lois Lufholm, Marilyn Larson, Joe Harper, Steve Svaleson, Orlie Ferguson, Mary Jo Godar, and Sam Lofstrom.

Charitable Report – We gave 20 hug a bears to St. Luke’s in August, September, and October.  We gave 24 hug a bears to Lake Superior Life Care Center in August, September, and October.  We gave 19 head coverings in August, 22 in September, and 36 in October to Essentia Cancer Center.  We received a thank you note from Lake Superior Life Care Center; Nancy will send it to Dave Hemmer for archiving.  90 books were delivered in August and 80 in September to the Big Red Book Shelf at the Lake Superior Health Care Center on Grand Avenue in Duluth.  Terri delivered books in October but not sure how many.

Chapter Update – Hug a bear luncheon and award explanation has been tabled.

Other – Our thanks to John for making the picture frame for the museum.  Another job well done, John!  There were 20 in attendance at the Pioneer Social in August.  It was a small group but a good time.  Five cookbooks were mailed to Grand Rapids Village Bookstore.

NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Marlys with a second by Nancy to send $200 to Circle of Hope (circleofhopeduluth.org).  Motion passed.  All proceeds stay local.  Marlys will email the information to JoAnn.  Backpacks were delivered to Bayview School on August 26.  Motion by John with a second by Bill to: If we did not meet our 65%, we want to give what was necessary in the following manner:
20% to MACV    10% Salvation Army
10% CHUM     10% Damiano
20% Second Harvest Duluth   10% Second Harvest Grand Rapids
10% Big Red Bookshelf   10% Union Gospel Mission
If we only have to give a small amount then we would want to divide it between MACV and Second Harvest Duluth.  If we don't have to do anything then we want to give $200 to MACV.  Motion passed.  We will check with JoAnn to see what needs to be done.

We will meet on the fourth Wednesday in January, April, July, and October 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Pioneer Lounge, Fourth Floor, Melrose Building, Duluth.
