ARROWHEAD MEETINGS
QWEST PIONEERS MEETING
ARROWHEAD COUNCIL
June 23, 2010
The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Cooper at 10:00 a.m. Pioneer members
present were Betty Lee, Don Fennessy, Bill Carlson, John Warren, JoAnn Cooper,
and Nancy Eilefson.
OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report – There has been a conversion of the accounting software. We
will get our May and June financial report by July 30. We did meet our
charitable percentage for First Quarter.
Life Member Report – There were 30 people at the Life Member Luncheon end of
year picnic. We will meet again in September.
Hug a Bear Report – We are still working on them!
Chapter Update – Betty attended the Chapter Meeting. She reported that the
meeting went along pretty well. The cookbooks will be sold at the website
prices. Taxes are included in the price. There is to be a membership drive in
September chapter wide. Gary Greb reported that 75 therapy balls were delivered
to Anoka sites. The Pioneer truck is in Jackson but they are looking to store it
in a metro garage. There are 8 riders for the MS Tram. Volunteers are needed for
the Beep Baseball Tournament. Ronald McDonald House Fundraisers will be held on
July 11 and September 12. Betty gave an update on the Spirit of Service ride and
MACV and sold raffle tickets. Plans are in the works for a 100-year anniversary
pin for 2011. There was a change in the By-laws. If a request for a donation of
$500.00 or more is received, approval at the Chapter level would require 60
days. Personal care bags will be a fall project. The next chapter meeting is in
Duluth on Friday, September 10. There will be a get together on Thursday
evening, September 9.
Other – Pat offered us a phone booth for the museum. JoAnn will check with
Brian. The Pioneers have a Face Book page. Betty has buttons to sell for MACV.
NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Don with a second by Nancy to transfer $50.00 from
general to charitable for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Motion
passed. Motion by Betty with a second by Nancy to rent a table (rental is
$18.00) at Forbes Bazaar in October to sell cookbooks. Motion passed. Motion by
Nancy with a second by John to transfer $50.00 from general to charitable to
send to Lowell Elementary music program. Motion passed.

Our next board meeting is July 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pioneer Lounge,
Fourth Floor Melrose Building in Duluth. All Pioneers and guests are welcome. We
meet the 4th Wednesday of each month.
The “Spirit of Service” ride will be July 17, 2010. Chapter meetings are
scheduled for September 10th in Duluth, and December 10th (place not confirmed).
There were 30 Pioneers, Partners, and guests at the Life Member Luncheon. The
next Life Member Luncheon will be September 15. All are welcome; reservations
are necessary.
